Gran Turismo 7 July 2024 Update Adding Six Cars, New Track And More

There was no Gran Turismo 7 content update in June 2024, and now we know why. There will be one coming on July 25, on the last Tuesday of the month like most content updates for the racing game usually are released.

Unusually, the reveal trailer isn’t revealed a day before the update goes live. Instead, it was first revealed during the Gran Turismo World Series 2024 Round 1 tournament in Montreal, as part of the livestream before the best GT drivers race for the Nations Cup.

UPDATE 25/07/24: The following has been updated with more information based on the now-released update detail post.

GT7 July 2024 New Track- Eiger Nordwand

The trailer revealed a new track joining GT7, though it’s not the track that was heavily rumoured to be included. Eiger Nordwand, the GT fantasy track based on the windy roads of Switzerland, is the one to be added (not a certain Canadian race track). This will be the first new track to be added post-launch that’s not in the Americas.

Eiger Nordwand has multiple track layouts in its past appearances, first debuting in Gran Turismo HD. Only one layout is available.

In addition, GT Sophy, the advanced AI developed by Sony AI, can now race on more tracks- Nurburgring 24h and Laggo Maggiore Full Course.

Gran Turismo 7 July 2024 New Cars

As for the new cars, it’s packing with modern classics. The Ferrari 430 Scuderia is cool for those prefer the souped-up version, but this is another Ferrari 430 being added when its predecessor the Ferrari 360 a few other generations of Ferrari’s mainline mid-engine cars (the 488 and the new 296) are still missing.

The BMW M3 E36 is a great addition, in that it’s completing the generation of M3s. The classic E30 and the two generations ahead of the E36 are already in the game.

The Lamborghini Gallardo was super popular in its heyday though less so these days, so it’s cool that the “little Lambo” gets love in modern racing games still.

Speaking of still getting love, RUF, the manufacturer of sports cars based on Porsche models gets another one of its cars to appear in GT7 with the RUF RGT 4.2.

Rally fans will love that the Subaru Impreza Rally Car is in GT7. It’s the number 3 car as well, as driven by the legendary Collin McRae with co-driver Nicky Grist in 1998. Of course, it’s the one without the 555 branding as tobacco branding on race cars are not depicted in Gran Turismo. This is the second rally car of the 90’s to be added in GT7, the first being the championship-winning Toyota Celica.

To round off the list, a racing spec of the Genesis Vision Gran Turismo car is also added, with a huge wing.

With Update 1.49, the total number of cars in Gran Turismo 7 is now at 511.

  • Ferrari 430 Scuderia 2007 – Brand Central, Used Cars
  • BMW M3 1997 – Used Cars
  • Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 2008 – Brand Central, Used Cars
  • Genesis X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo Concept – Brand Central
  • Subaru Impreza Rally Car 1998 – Legend Cars

Gran Turismo 7 Update Other New Features

The new update will have “new physics”. This will see a change to the suspension physics “resulting in more natural weight shifting during cornering”. Meanwhile, the tyre model has also been changed to offer more realistic tyre heating and wear.

The tyres in GT7 will now be Michelin-branded similar to how all brake upgrades uses Brembo calipers. The sidewall now has Michelin stamps, replacing the generic “sport” and “racing” labels on the tyres if you look close enough. Except other specific vehicles, all the tyres on cars will be Michelins. The brand has a close (maybe too close) association with Gran Turismo since GT Sport.

There are also new sport rims/wheels, including from new brands like Pokal.

Previously, GT7 added two new car manufacturers in the span of two months- Skoda in April and Volvo in May.

Gran Turismo 7 is out now on PS4 and PS5.
