Right on cue on the last Thursday of the month, a new Gran Turismo 7 free content update is coming. And Update 1.48 is a relatively generous one as we’re getting not just three, but five new cars.
And two of which is from a manufacturer that hasn’t been present in the game yet. Volvo is back after being missing from the series since Gran Turismo Sport. We’re getting the Volvo 240 SE Estate, that’s the wagon version, and the new-ish Volvo V40.
Hopefully more brands and marques will start to reappear in the Gran Turismo series. Other notable marques that are missing still includes Lotus and Koenigsegg.
The latter, also a Swedish manufacturer like Volvo, made its first appearances as a car manufacturer in Gran Turismo, and their cars appeared in the Gran Turismo movie, yet they remain missing since GT Sport.
The other three are also great additions as well. The JGTC cars of the late 90’s is now a complete set with the return of the Honda NSX GT500. The Honda Civic has another generation added with the Honda Civic SiR・II (EG) and the Nissan Skylines gets another GTR added with the R31 Nissan Skyline GTS-R.
Some variation of these three Japanese cars are already in GT7, but these specific differences matters to car people.
And looks like GT7 is slowly completing the set and adding the missing generations of some of these cars. And there’s plenty of more gaps to fill.

The total number of cars available in Gran Turismo 7 after the May 2024 Update ( Update 1.48) is now at 505 cars.
Unfortunately, there remains to be no new tracks added. The last time a new track was added was in November last year. And there have been no track additions, even just track layouts, since.
The May 2024 update also adds four new World Circuit races and new Scapes (photo mode) locations with the ability to move the camera up and down.
The update goes live on May 30 after the scheduled server miniatous ends. Gran Turismo 7 is available now on PS4 and PS5.
The game is currently discounted as part of the Days Of Play sales promo. Check out our review of GT7 here.
