At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, Square Enix revealed a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Revelation. The third and final game of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, following 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake and 2024’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, will wrap up the retelling of 1997’s seminal RPG Final Fantasy VII through modern video game fidelity and production.
We still don’t have a locked release date for FFVII Revelation, it’s still set to release in Spring 2027 (March-May), but a new trailer showing off the Weapons and a new summon should suffice.
With the world of Gaia approaching calamity and the crew mourning a loss, Cloud Strife and the party takes to the… clouds on the Highwind airship as they race against time to stop Meteor. If you’re new to Final Fantasy VII and only played Remake and Rebirth, the logo of the game now makes sense.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will still feature the FFVII Remake trilogy’s take on a hybrid blend of real-time action and turn-based-esque commands. But there are new features coming to Revelation.
There’s the addition of two new playable party members via the revolver-wielding Vincent Valentine and resident Dragoon and Cid representative, Cid Highwind. There’s also the new FITS system that lets characters change fits to access to different abilities ala the jobs system (Square Enix has now made the relationship between FITS and Final Fantasy’s jobs system more official—it’s namechecked in the press release.) And you can explore the entire world by airship and just parachute where ever you need to.
While Final Fantasy VII Revelation is a standalone game with no carry-over progression with a self-contained story arc, this is still the third part of story that was made for one entire game. The trailer has set up some high stakes of what’s coming, and a lot of that might be lost if you’re coming in hot straight to the finale.
We highly recommend playing through Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth before heading into Final Fantasy VII Revelation. These games launched as PlayStation exclusives, but both games are now available on PS5, Xbox Series, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
