Summer Game Fest 2026 caps off with the reveal of the expected third and final part for the remake of Final Fantasy VII. After Final Fantasy VII Remake was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Its final part’s name is now revealed to be Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is third and final arc of this saga, beginning in 2020 with Remake, a remake of the 1997 original, and sequel to 2024’s Rebirth.
Unlike the last two games, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch simultaneously on all platforms, no more limited-time PlayStation exclusivity.
FFVII Remake and FFVII Rebirth are now available on all platforms, so everyone will get to experience the final Final Fantasy VII remake game together.

As those who played the original expected, FFVII Revelation will feature the ability to move across Gaia in the airship, Highwind. The world is fully explorable and the party can parachute down from anywhere like it’s a game of Fortnite.
Expect to explore the tropical island of Mideel and regularly mentioned region of Wutai in FFVII Revelation. Previously explored regions like Midgard will also be available.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Brings Two New Playable Characters
Two new members join the party in the form of Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind. The two, like all of the party members so far in FFVII remake series, will have character-specific abilities designed around the game’s combat system where you control one character directly with the option to switch to the other two other members at any time.
Vincent Valentine primarily uses his guns and great aim to his advantage to strike from afar. He can also go beast mode, turning into, a literal beast form. Cid, meanwhile, is designated Dragoon with his command of the spear, that can sweep an area or poke enemies from a distance or air launch enemies and juggle them.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation New Gameplay System FITS: New Job System
There is a major shake-up to the combat system with FFVII Revelation, in the form of FITS (Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear). It’s basically a job system (with the names all evoking the jobs established in the Final Fantasy series).
So far, the FITS revealed are Warrior (enhances offensive abilities) and Black Mage (offensive magic). Someone will have to fill in the role of the White Mage, so the addition of this system at this particular point of the story makes sense.
Also, as the name implies, every party member gets a new fit when they equip a specific FITS.
The materia system, the core buildcrafting feature throughout Final Fantasy VII, the original and the remake series, remains available in Revelation.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation hasn’t exactly nailed down a release date yet, but it is coming sometime in Spring 2027 (March-May) for the PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
