At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, Paradox Interactive revealed Lego Skylines.
This is a new city builder based on Lego bricks developed by the current developers of Cities Skylines II, Iceflake Studios.
This “playful take on city building” that thankfully isn’t called Lego City Cities Skylines (and have another Total War Warhammer situation of having two redundant words in the title that must be there due to trademark reasons) will see players build, manage and build their own brick-based city.
The press release makes use of the word “encourage” a lot, in that Lego Skylines isn’t a serious city builder where managing city requirements like electricity and water is essential, though such requirements are still at play. Buildings and services unlock as you slowly build up your Lego city (not to be confused with Lego City, the toyline) ala Cities Skylines. Expect customisable plots, buildings and a lot of Lego decorations to make your city yours. No need to follow instructions.
The trailer shows how playful the act of plopping buildings in Lego Skylines. A building is seen to be on fire, with firefighters doing their best to put them out.
However, no man has fallen into the river in Lego Skylines’ reveal trailer.

It’s a nice change of pace to see more cosy and relaxed city builders are being made. Cities Skylines II hasn’t quite lived up to its promise with so many of its systems not quite gelling well. Thankfully Lego Skylines isn’t aimed to be the new standard of city builders like how the original Cities Skylines after it effectively taken the mantle following the poor reception of the previous de-facto city builder game series, SimCity. Just plop something made out of Lego bricks here in Lego Skylines. Have fun.
Lego Skylines has no release date yet, but it’s coming to PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
