As the markets for Personal Computers are going to a rather interesting trend, Acer’s Predator series is just keeping up with those trends with just refinements that makes their Helios 16 quite a fine machine, for both gaming and the business side of things.
So what’s new with this year’s version? About 50-50.

The Helios Neo 16 still looks rather similar to its previous generations, but it’s solid enough with an estimated weight of about 2,5 kilos, it’s a hefty piece of tech that’s well worth its asking price of 8,099 MYR.
It’s design is also an iteration of the the previous models, with added stuff like two Type-C Thunderbolt ports (which doubles as a display port as well) at the back-part of the laptop alongside the HDMI slot, three USB 3.2 ports (which also supports offline charging), Ethernet slot and even a headphone jack, it’s quite complete for those wanting to turn it into a Desktop setup too.
The heat dissipation on the keyboard area is quite broaden now, beyond even the WASD keys thanks to their AeroBlade Fan, along with the usage of Liquid Metal on the thermal cooling side, it’s no small wonder that even the more intense sessions we have with the laptop, the fan keeps being both quiet and efficient in cooling.
Software
The usual software that greats you with this Acer PredatorSense, which helps with Monitoring GPU, CPU temps along with how much power do you want it to use, plus fan speed usage, which you might not need to tweak that much as well due to how well the Aeroblades work already.
Then as for updates of the Nvidia GPU, the usual Nvidia app should suffice already for the update of both security and the likes of Nvidia DLSS, plus Ray Tracing, among the bells and whistles of a RTX card within a laptop.
Bar the usual Windows 11 performance, it can do the mundane tasks like web browsing and streaming, up to 4K 60fps mind you, as well as you expect. Even do a bit of those thinking via the Intelligances of Artificial via some lad named Claude or the Geepeas of teas. Not as well as a dedicated machine with Intel’s more dedicated CPU ones, but it does the job.
Gaming Performance
Here is how the new Helios Neo 16 looks on the Cyberpunk 2077’s performance test and the list of games we’ve tested during our time with it.

The two open-world titles, which needs constant memory streaming for it’s cities to load, works well with the power it’s good, especially Cyberpunk with low Ray-Tracing that’s still able to get around 50 to 60fps during gameplay segments is commendable. While more particle effects heavy like Marathon also makes use of the power rather well, along with Assetto Corsa Rally which needs this sort of power to make sure your run could be pin-point accurate to the millisecond at times.
Indie games also would find the Helios Neo 16 gaming prowess quite welcoming, with how easy to run stuff like JDM Drift Masters or even platformers like Funni Raccoon Game without any tweaks at all. Heck, sports titles like Konami’s eBaseball Pro Spirits just put it’s settings into Max and off you go swinging, definitely worth the pricing of admission.
My recommendation is run it at around Mid to Max, and make use of that 120hz screen to its content really.
Pricing
As mentioned, it is a hefty piece of tech that’s well worth its asking price of 8,099 MYR, and while we are limited to the RTX 5050 GPU and just 16 Gigs of RAM, looking at the outlook of the PC and laptop market right now, this could be quite a good purchase/ investment as the pricing could go up in the future, so as a full package right now, this is quite a good deal.
