At least 300,000 people has flipped a train as of August 21, 2026 as Denshattack! now has 300,000 players, the game’s social account posted.
The specific choice of the term “players” here reflects on the game being available on Xbox Game Pass. So this isn’t hard sales numbers.
While the social account, and surely publisher Fireshrine Games and developer Undercoders are perfectly happy with this achievement, there’s still not enough people have played this love letter to early 2000s video games and Japanese culture.
In Denshattack!, you play as Emi, who’s a normal gal ramen delivery gal that drives a train gets roped into participating in the art of Denshattack. In a world where Japan was hit by an ecological disaster where the haves live in sheltered dome and the have-nots left stranded outside in the beautiful ruins, people are driving and flipping trains—Denshattack—as an act of defiance of the literal corporate overlord that rule the nation. Story and vibe-wise, Denshattack! is part of what fans have dubbed “grind fiction,” which includes games like Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and the progenitor, Jet Set Radio.
Mechanically speaking, Denshattack! is a high-speed platformer where you drive trains through linear levels with some branching paths ala Sonic The Hedgehog (and other more on-rails expression of platformers) with a hint of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater thanks to the tricking system. Yes, you can kickflip a train.
Expect to speedrun, rack up a high score by holding a combo for almost two minutes long, and even race against other trains.
