Every once in a while, Digital Extremes will look at the many Warframes playable in Warframe and address issues about their kit. This time, the warframe Wukong, which has seen little use by most players, got some love with a rework.
The rework replaces one ability and tweaked the others so the trickster warframe has more synergy to its abilities, and play more differently. The first ability, replacing Iron Jab, is Celestial Twin. This creates a twin clone Wukong that will fight alongside you, dealing melee damage when you are shooting and vice versa.
Wukong’s second ability, Cloud Walker, now allows you to move much faster, triggers quicker and won’t trigger traps and alarms when you transform into a cloud apparition. It can also daze and paralyse enemies while healing Wukong and his clone.
The third ability, Defy, is still about gaining invulnerability, but with a twist. Rather than set-it-and-leave-it, you get to absorb all damage during the duration and then deal it to the enemies back with a long-range staff spin attack.
The last ability, Primal Fury, will have Wukong whip ou his legendary staff. The combo system is simplified, as a preview of upcoming changes of upcoming phases of Melee 3.0. The staff now has longer range and quicker animations.
Wukong also gets a whole new passive ability- 5 Levels of Immortality. Each mission, Wukong can escape death three times without penalty, and will trigger either three of the five buffs:
- Primal Forces: Triple elemental damage for 60 seconds
- Heavenly Cloak: Invisibility for 30 seconds
- Cosmic Armour: Invulnerable for 30 seconds
- Monkey Luck: Extra loot drops for 60 seconds
- Sly Alchemy: Orbs 4x more effective for 60 seconds
This should entice you Tenno to get back and play as Wukong again. For those who have them in their arsenal, you will get 3 Formas for free.
The Wukong rework is now live on PC, as update 25.2 of The Jovian Concord.
