Bioware has officially confirmed the setting for its next Dragon Age game (Dragon Age 4 is not the official name). And they confirmed it on a new book, of all places.
One of the pages of Bioware: Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development officially revealed some artwork for codename Morrison: “the long-awaited follow-up to Dragon Age: Inquisition”.
For fans of the RPG series, the Tresspasser DLC in Dragon Age: Inquisition already hinted of the possibility that the next game will explore the Tevinter Imperium. Previously, Bioware also released a collection of short stories dubbed Tevinter Nights, which hinted at where the next game will take place.
The Tevinter Imperium is an often-mentioned but not seen location in the world of Thedas. Several companions (Fenris in Dragon Age II and Dorian in Dragon Age: Inquisition hailed from the area).
The artworks depicted in the Bioware book also hinted that it may cover the bordering locales of Antiva and Nevarra.
We’ve heard of a cancelled version of Dragon Age 4 before, but with the many teases like this, development of the next Dragon Age is still in progress.
They’re not the stalwart of Western RPGs anymore with their past two releases (Mass Effect Andromeda, Anthem) being not as good. But there are still continuing efforts to make better games over there, so let’s hope they can actually recover.
Bioware are also busy with reworking Anthem and making a new Mass Effect game.
