High-School Tactics RPG Demonschool Release Is Last-Minute Delayed Until November

If you were excited to play high-school tactics RPG Demonschool by developer Necrosoft Games and publisher Ysbryd Games on September 3, bad news.

The game has been delayed, “for exactly the reason you’re thinking.”

Demonschool will now release on November 19, to avoid releasing to close from the unexpected release of the most anticipated indie game, Hollow Knight: Silksong.

The delay is a last-minute decision, as at the time of writing, the game is about to release next week. The game’s ready for release. To the point that review keys have already been distributed to the press and creators in anticipation of reviews and coverage ahead of release.

“We have to remind ourselves that gaining visibility for Demonschool is our main goal,” the statement reads in a press statement, which is also posted with the delay announcement on Ysbyrd’s socials, reads. “Thus, the Ysbryd team strongly believes we would not be doing our game any favors by wading into waters we can clearly see are blood red. If the September period is going to be Silksong’s moment, then we need to be elsewhere on the calendar to give Demonschool its own moment to be seen and talked about meaningfully.”

It’s unfortunate timing, but the delay will see the devs being able to add more content, including more endings and mini-games initially planned to be released post-launch, as part of the base game’s experience.

Demonschool is a “school-life tactics RPG” citing Persona, the Shin Megami Tensei series and Italian horror cinema as inspirations. As Faye, you and your university buddies must navigate school life while also engage in the extra-curricular activities in fighting horrifying and grotesque monstrosities with a grid-based battle system.

Demonschool will now launch on November 19 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
