gamescom Asia’s First Event Postponed To 2021

gamescom Asia 2020 will not be happening, as the organisers Koelnmesse Singapore announced that the inaugural event will now take place in 2021.

gamescom Asia will be replacing Game Start Asia as the premier video games festival in Southeast Asia, but due to the global pandemic, understandably, the event will not take place this year.

“While the common sentiment was hopefulness for large-scale events to go back to normalcy, we agreed that the world is not situationally ready for this to happen,” said Mathias Kuepper, Managing Director of Koelnmesse Singapore.

“With that, we will have to adapt and refocus our efforts on 2021, and offer digital engagements leading up to that date in support of the Asian games industry.”

The organisers were optimistic that the event will still happen this October a few months back. Of course, it’s becoming clear that it won’t be safe to have large-scale conventions at the moment.

The first gamescom Asia is now postponed to October 14-17, 2021 to be held at Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre, Singapore.

The main gamescom event in Europe will be a digital-only event done through livestreams, taking place from August 27-30.
