CD Projekt Red dropped some big news during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting remastered.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered (the official title doesn’t use a dash, but rather an em-dash but also adds space separating the punctuation with the two words between it) will be bringing “a slew of upgrades and enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and more” to the critical acclaimed action-RPG launched in 2015.
It’s not just visual upgrades either, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will also include the following:
- Enhanced combat
- Improved traversal and movement
- New witcher signs effects
- Revamped mount handling
- Enhanced monster behaviors
- Skill tree revamp
- Transmogrification (equip any cosmetic look while retaining stats of original equipment)
- Expanded photo mode
- New finishers
The remaster is being co-developed by Yigsoft, which has worked with CDPR on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is a free upgrade for those who currently own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
To sweeten the freebie deal even further, the previous two paid expansions for The Witcher 3, Hearts Of Stone and Blood And Wine, are now free to owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, with immediate effect. The base game you own should now be converted into The Witcher 3: Complete Edition. The title is a misnomer, there’s a new paid expansion coming to The Witcher 3, though it is correct if you own these on last-generation platforms (PS4, Xbox One, Switch) and it will be retitled into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered anyways.
Still, if you managed to snag the original Witcher 3 when it was dirt cheap (it was deeply discounted that it was offered for as low as RM5 at one time), you got yourself a strikingly good deal. A free remaster and two free expansions!
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will be out on September 29 on PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Battle.net), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
