Seemingly out of nowhere, CD Projekt RED announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting a new expansion. A 2015 game with a sequel in the works is getting its third expansion 12 years after its release. The second one was released in 2016. Wild.
The Witcher 3: Songs Of The Past will see players be Geralt Of Rivia once again in this new adventure.
Interestingly, The Witcher 3: Songs Of The Past expansion is being co-developed by Fool’s Theory. This is a Polish developer that made The Thaumaturge and is comprised of developers that previously had worked on The Witcher 3. No love lost.
The seemingly out-of-nowhere announcement, which lacked details other than an expected release date and that it’s only for current 9th-gen consoles and PC only, is due to the expansion’s existence was leaked. The RED launcher that pops up on PC installs of CDPR games had accidentally revealed this, so the developers just went on to announce it now, ahead of its supposed reveal on an upcoming livestream.
The Witcher 3: Songs Of The Past will launch in 2027 for the PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.
