A year after its launch on PC, Frostpunk 2 is heading to consoles. The sequel to the narrative-driven city-builder can now be experienced with a controller.
Though that doesn’t mean the dealing with the hard choices and politics of New London is going to be ever easier.
However, the press release does make mention that the development team “has further refined the circular, easily navigable interface” based on experience gained from the console port of the first Frostpunk.
Skybound Games will be distributing this game’s console release, developed and published by 11 Bit Studios. Physical editions will be available.
Frostpunk 2 continues to explore an alternate steampunk world hit by eternal winter where things only colder everyday. While a competent city-builder on its own, Frostpunk’s special sauce is it has a captivating story and worldbuilding that makes you think twice before you optimise your decisions for the bigger number. The sequel takes the game in a different direction, inward. Instead of just making decisions to ensure the city (and its people) survives, there’s a lot of internal turmoil and politics you must navigate.
Frostpunk 2 will be releasing on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 18.
