Death Stranding, the surreal walking and courier game about connecting America by Kojima Productions, is finally available on Xbox.
The original PS4 game was published directly by PlayStation, making it a console exclusive. The game has since received a port to PC and select Apple devices.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut, the version with extra content first released on PS5, is available on Xbox Series X|S today. Like the other ports for non-PlayStation platforms, this version is published by 505 Games.
“It is my pleasure to finally announce that Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be delivered to Xbox players,” said Hideo Kojima.
“I would like to thank all the fans who have stayed connected with us as well as everyone in the Xbox community who have been patiently waiting. Kojima Productions (Death Stranding) will continue to connect more and more players around the world, so please stay tuned.”
This is not the first time Death Stranding is available on the Xbox ecosystem, as it was offered on PC Game Pass for PC players. But now the game is properly available on an Xbox console, a rare feat considering this is technically still a PlayStation Studios game.
Death Stranding 2 is in development, and that should still be a PS5 exclusive for at least a few years after release. But the developer is working with Xbox on a new original game.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut is out now on PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S as well as on Mac.
