Death Stranding, the delivery game from Kojima Productions that proved to be prophetic months after release as the world closed up and we rely more on courier services, is getting a Director’s Cut release on PS5. And only on PS5 for now, it seems.
First revealed with a teaser at the Summer Game Fest showcase, a new trailer emerged at the July 2021 State Of Play broadcast showing some more concrete features we can expect.
There’s now a Firing Range as well as racing mini-game in the form of Fragile Circuit. There are also new tools to help you survive in combat as well as improve your logistical abilities.
There are also new missions being added as well.
Moreover, the Director’s Cut will include all previous content, including the collab Half-Life and Cyberpunk 2077 content that was only available on the PC version prior to this.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut will also include the following PS5-specific features:
- DualSense controller haptic feedback
- Adaptive trigger resistance support.
- 3D Audio support
- faster load times
- Performance Mode (upscaled 4K and up to 60FPS) or Fidelity Mode in native 4K – both with ultra-wide and HDR support
Death Stranding Director’s Cut will only be on PS5 for now. Owners of the PS4 version can upgrade by paying RM50, giving you the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut will also be available as a standalone PS5 purchase (physical/digital) for RM209, with the Digitial Deluxe Edition at RM249.
This continues PlayStation’s trend of not providing free next-gen upgrades, but unlike Ghost Of Tsushima’s director’s cut, at least this one isn’t charging you RM299.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be out on September 24 only for PS5.
