It is time to get hyped for Hypercars, the racing class. Gran Turismo 7 skipped May so that the June 2026 free content update arrives earlier, and with more cars. Four of them are modern-day racing prototypes that are currently race at the top level of the two endurance racing series: WEC’s Hypercar and IMSA’s GTP.
The four modern endurance crown challengers that comes in Update 1.7.0 are four very different machines.
The Ferrari 499P is now a three-times Le Mans winning machine, achieved consecutively each by a different car of the three the prancing horse fields in the WEC series.
The Porsche 963 has success both in IMSA and in WEC. The car is not be competing in WEC and in Le Mans these days, a sigh of relief for its competitors considering how often the machines from Stuttgart dominates up front in these endurance races that can last as long as one whole day.
You can see the BMW Hybrid V8 menacingly from the rear-view camera when one is coming. It may not be as big as the M8 (the prototypes are all tiny compared to the road-derived GT3 race cars), its wide kidney grille makes it look like it’s ready to pounce.
Rounding off these Gr.1 machines is the Peugeot 9X8 that dares to be different, which unfortunately haven’t paid off—its radical design approach of not having a rear wing and relying on other aerodynamic aspects to meet the regulations did not produce results. Now properly winged, its real-life counterpart has more competitive moments, bringing hope a French car can win Le Mans again soon.
Also, there’s a Porsche 911 (992, the latest generation 911) safety car, because why not.
All these cars have been teased and revealed earlier. Though developers Polyphony Digital still have the regular car silhouette teaser produced and posted the weekend before this update will go live.
Gran Turismo 7 is in dire need of modern race cars to keep up with the other racing games and racing sims that are able to feature them. It’s been far enough in time that the one modern racing prototype that the game has, the Toyota GR010 Hybrid, just became outdated as of this year.
That said, the update comes rather timely with this year’s 24 Hours Of Le Mans race happening this weekend.

As of Update 1.70, Gran Turismo 7 now has a total of 570 cars.

As far as extra content from the June 2026 update, there’s not much. One new Extra Menu themed on LMP1 cars. More race events (including a Gr.1 race at Circuit de la Sarthe, or “24 Heures du Mans Racing Circuit” as it’s called in-game) and new Scapes (static photo mode) featuring… Pikes Peak.

Gran Turismo 7 Adds Pikes Peak… But Not As A Track
The latter is a painful one, as since 2015, Gran Turismo has been a sponsor for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the famous time attack race event. Pikes Peak was featured in Gran Turismo 2, albeit only covering a portion of the full route and back when the trail wasn’t paved. The last video game appearance of Pikes Peak was in Dirt Rally in 2015 as a free update before “it went exclusive,” and the point-to-point run up to the mountains was not in its follow-up Dirt 4, and other racing games for that matter.
So for now, being able to pose cars and have them appear speeding and drifting is the closest thing we have Pikes Peak in Gran Turismo 7, though hopefully there is more work currently being done behind the scenes to actually have Pikes Peak as a drivable course again.
Full patch notes will be linked here once the update goes live.
Gran Turismo 7 June 2026 update (Update 1.70) will go live tomorrow, June 11. The game is available on PS4 and PS5.
