For the Hitman fans having to sit back and wait as developer IO Interactive commences their James Bond arc, good news. The first three Hitman games are getting remastered, courtesy of Saber Interactive.
Hitman Classic Trilogy Remastered will be “faithfully remastered” versions of Hitman: Codename 47, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, and Hitman: Contracts.
Hitman Classic Trilogy Remastered will feature upgraded character models, high resolution textures and enhanced environments. But if you’re not a fan of the new visuals, there’s an instant toggle to have it look like it was decades ago, or switch back-and-forth between them as you see fit. The remaster also adds a Photo Mode as well.
The rest of the features are as you’d expect. Each of the three games represent the early days of Agent 47’s world tour of hits, though not exactly as pristine sheen and chic as the recent World Of Assassination trilogy is. The three games, in particular Hitman: Contracts, has a more darker tone to them. The structure is also a little different: some missions are only for you to go from point A to point B, to the next mission where the hit takes place proper.
On the topic of Contracts, a good chunk of the game consists of reimaginings of the same missions from Codename Agent 47. A remake, if you will, before remakes are marketable.
More importantly to us here at Gamer Matters, this also means we will get to see the Petronas Twin Towers in a new light, as three missions in Hitman 2: Silent Assassin takes place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Saber Interactive has regularly released remasters of old classics including Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered and Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered. Seeing Hitman getting remastered by Saber makes more sense considering they have done a few remasters of Eidos games—the three titles in Hitman Classic Trilogy Remastered were published by Eidos back then.
Hitman Classic Trilogy Remastered will be out in 2027 for the PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
