Hideo Kojima Productions’ critically acclaimed hiking, travelling, and logistics adventure Death Stranding is coming to Mac.
The game is available for pre-order on the Mac App Store.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut will run natively on Apple Silicon and make use of Metal 3 features. So this is a port that will utilise all the cool new feature from the latest Mac devices.
Hideo Kojima said, “I have been a die-hard Apple fan since I bought my first Mac back in1994-and it has been a dream of mine to see my team’s best work come to life on the Mac.”
This release, like the PC version, is published by 505 Games. The original PS4 game, and the original Director’s Cut release on PS5, were published under PlayStation Studios.
This is a very niche release, but for those who do use Macs for gaming, for some reason, now there’s one big game that is making use of all that power.
The bigger story is that this seems to be the first game Apple has been courting to make Mac a viable gaming platform, and a way to showcase its own CPUs and GPUs.
A sequel to Death Stranding, DS2, is in the works.
