Kojima Productions’ next game was announced at The Game Awards 2022. After a series of teasers, showcasing more Hollywood talents being involved, a new trailer appeared and it’s called DS2. Or Death Stranding 2.
As expected, the reveal trailer is all about tone-setting, showcasing dark vibes, military folks, babies, and other weird stuff. Not enough walking, however.
The protagonist from Death Stranding, Sam, played by Norman Reedus, returns.
An interesting tidbit from the event, Kojima Productions’ Hideo Kojima remarked the story of DS2 was re-written as he “didn’t want to predict the future”. Death Stranding is a story of a courier delivery person travelling the world delivering parcels to people isolated in their accommodations as the outside world becomes hostile, which becomes all too real once the pandemic hits in early 2020, a few months after the game’s original release.
Gameplay footage was taken from PS5, and it looks like it will be released first on PS5. No release date was announced for Death Stranding 2 yet.
