Never too late to release a demo, eh? Sega and Atlus have did just that, they released a demo for last year’s Persona 3 Reload, one year later.
The demo allows you to transfer progress to the full game, using the Network Slot of the available save slots. The game needs to be updated first to enable save transfer. And if you for some reason wanted to check the demo out despite already have a game and save file, please be aware that it will overwrite the Network Slot save.
Persona 3 Reload is a full remake of the 2006 RPG first released on PS2. Developed by P-Studio, Reload preserves the story and characters but dramatically overhauled the gameplay, control and visuals.
It’s not quite a full replacement for all the Persona 3 Editions. While Reload has its take on Persona 3 FES’ The Answer epilogue campaign as DLC, it only features the male protagonist. Persona 3 Portable, first released on the PSP, featured an option to play as a female character which slightly alters the character interactions seen throughout the game.
Previously, Atlus released a demo for its other big RPG of last year, Metaphor: ReFantazio, ahead of its release with great success.
It’s still unsure why a demo is even released so far out since release, given Reload sold well—it hit the one million copies milestone in under the first week of launch.
But hey, if more people give this high-school romp where selected students engage in the extra co-curricular activity of dungeon crawling during the mysterious Dark Hour, fight in turn-based battles by using the power of understanding their through self (and shooting themselves with a gun to summon the titular Personas), build bonds and do other regular things a regular student does, by all means.
Jokes aside, Persona 3 Reload, just like the original, has a slick and bombastic UI, upbeat hip-hop beats for a soundtrack and an emotional story that deals with facing the truest fate a human will end on: death.
Persona 3 Reload is in Gamer Matters’ Top 30 Games Of 2024 list.
The demo for Persona 3 Reload is now available on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The full game is out now. Check out our review of the game here, and the Episode Aigis DLC here.
