Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair is the second entry to Yooka-Laylee from ex-Rare developers Playtonic Games. If Yooka-Laylee is Banjo-Kazooie (or more aptly, Donkey Kong 64), Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair is more Donkey Kong Country- the levels are now in 2D.
Good news! A free demo of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is on the way!
Steam: 23rd Jan
PS4/Nintendo Switch: 30th Jan

If you haven’t gotten around to give the game a go, now there’s a demo coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC via Steam. The demo will include:
- a selection of 2D levels
- the Pagie Challenge (a challenge level that opens up the world once completed)
- at least one level with an altered state
- saves that carry over to the full game
- no time limit
- Tonics (buffs, debuffs and cheats, including Big Head Mode)
- The Impossible Lair
The titular Impossible Lair is essentially the last level of the game, but also the first one you will be walked through. The level is tough, and to make it easier you need to complete the other levels around the top-down overworld to free bees that lets you take one extra hit.
That being said, should you be good enough with the platformer, it is technically possible to beat the game just with the demo alone. You’ll need to be really good at platforming though. But it helps that the demo lets you play indefinitely.
The demo for Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair will be out on PS4 and Switch on January 30th, and on PC (Steam) on January 23rd. No date for the Xbox One demo yet, but it’s coming.
