Yan: Parasomnia Is Survival Horror Co-Op Game With A Fixed Camera Perspective

File this under “games at Indie Jam 2026 that went under our radar” as Malaysian devs Nimbus Games are set to release their latest game, Parasomnia.

Stylised as “Yan魇: Parasomnia” (the word Yan is how you pronounce the Chinese character, and it translates more or less into Parasomnia), players take on the roles of siblings Wan Zhi Min and Wan Zhi Han, who are trapped in a ritual at their old home while the Hungry Ghost Festival is occuring, a time when the barrier between the spirit and human world becomes its thinnest.

Similar to Nimbus Games’ debut title Malice, Parasomnia can be played cooperatively with another player, each controller one of the Wan siblings. Unlike Malice, this is optional.

Also unlike Malice, Parasomnia is a survival horror game that wears its influences on its sleeves. The game is more inspired by Resident Evil (specifically the original 1996 title) and Fatal Frame. Hence, Parasomnia employs a fixed camera perspective and a bunch of puzzles needed solving inspired by RE, while the siblings facing against ghosts story setup is definitely the result of Fatal Frame’s influences.

If you’re a fan of survival horror games of yore, and see the fixed camera perspective as a design choice rather than an outdated mechanic, Parasomnia is worth a look. The game has a demo available.

Parasomnia is expected to release sometime in August on PC (Steam), which is right about the same time as the real Hungry Ghost Festival.
