Would you look at that, even Tony Hawk and the gang of old and new skateboarders are coming to the Switch 2.
Activision has a short new trailer for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, the remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 as one game. It shows off new visuals of old, remade levels as featured in the two iconic games.
The Cruise Ship from THPS3 looks nice. Rio, the competition level from THPS3 also looks nice with a higher resolution of the Christ The Redeemer statue overlooking the park from afar. No skater was seen doing a Christ Air, but the trailer transitions to another THPS3 competition level, Tokyo, whilst a skater is pulling the Japan grab. Skater Island looks a bit more tropical and from the looks of it, it now has a hidden area where you can drop down under the sea and into Bikini Bottom. Because… why not? Doom Guy now known as Doom Slayer is skating with the likes of old-school skaters Rodney Mullen, new generation talent including one Kasso participant Jamie Foy. Another pop culture reference in a skateboarding game filled with pop culture references is fine.
THPS 3+4 has also been teasing its full soundtrack, a mixture of old and new songs as curated by the Birdman himself. The second wave of music has been revealed featuring songs from returning artists, but with different songs, which Hawk has admitted to be his decision, “hoping that discovery is half the fun, and a big reason that these soundtracks resonated in the first place.”
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 launches on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on July 11.
But there’s no firm release date for Switch 2 yet, other than it’s coming this summer. So that should mean that it will arrive at least before the end of August, and probably not ahead of the announced released date for other platforms.
