The New Xbox Controller For Series X Brings Slight Improvements

Microsoft has revealed more of the Xbox Series X, their next-gen console coming near the end of the year. And one thing they only showed a bit is the new controller. The Xbox Wireless Controller, which is now a solid gamepad for general use, gets a slight evolution.

We know already that Microsoft is keeping up with the standards that Sony trailblazed (and Nintendo followed) by adding a dedicated share button, placed between the two option buttons.

Microsoft has brought in some features from the extravagant Xbox Elite controller as standard. The triggers (and parts of the bumpers) now have texture- small dimples to grip on. The d-pad is something similar to the Elite’s circular metal pad, where it’s easier to roll between the directions, but still rigid enough for solid, one-direction inputs.

The controller should still be compatible with PC and mobile devices. Plus, according to Digital Foundry, it should be compatible with Xbox One.

The new Xbox Wireless Controller is a slight evolution to a pretty solid controller already. So slight improvements are to be expected, which is fine.

The Xbox Series X, which this controller is designed for, will be out later this year. Microsoft just revealed the full specs of the next-gen console here.
