The new game by Rebel Wolves, a new game studio co-founded by The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and to be published by Bandai Namco has been revealed.
The game is called The Blood Of Dawnwalker. This action-RPG is set in an alternate 14th century Europe where vampires are overthrowing the feudal lords during The Black Death.
The reveal trailer is a tone-setter opening cinematic where a group of soldiers chase a man to slay the child infected by the plague, only to be ambushed by blood-sucking vampires.
In The Blood Of Dawnwalker, you play as Coen. He has been turned into a Dawnwalker, not quite human anymore but not yet a vampire.
But here’s the kicker: Coen has 30 days, and nights, in this sandbox RPG where you can “save your family, or swear revenge on your sire and destroy everyone standing in your way.”
It’s an open world RPG (like The Witcher), but Rebel Wolves is pitching this as a “narrative sandbox.” It’s quite the hook: not many games dare to impose time limits like Dead Rising did. And here in The Blood Of Dawnwalker, you’re not only have a hard deadline which you will conclude your playthrough, but Coen also has different skills and abilities, as well as different story outcomes depending on what time of day it is.
“There are multiple approaches to saving Coen’s family with no clear division between main and side quests, you decide on how you spend the time,” said Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director and Co-Founder of Rebel Wolves. “Time is a resource and with each quest progressing its passage, it is impossible to complete all stories and arcs before the dreadful deadline, making each playthrough unique. We call it a narrative sandbox.”
The Blood Of Dawnwalker is supposed to be a the first of a saga of games Rebel Wolves intend to make.
Expect to see more of the gameplay later this summer (June-August).
CD Projekt Red recently announced The Witcher 4, but looks like there will be more than one open world action-RPG being developed in Poland currently.
The Blood Of Dawnwalker is expected to release in 2026 for the PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
