Tetris The Grand Master 4 Absolute Eye Announced

Arika has revealed that they are release a new Tetris The Grand Master game, the first new entry in 20 years.

Tetris The Grand Master 4 Absolute Eye will hard drop on PC next week, April 4, and this reveal trailer gives you a rundown of all the included modes the game will have.

The modes include the following:

  • Marathon: Traditional Tetris mode, compete for high score
  • Normal: Traditional Tetris mode, compete to clear lines in the fastest time
  • Asuka (New): For intermediate players. Tetrominoes drop at full speed. But you can rewind to undo some drops. Clear as many lines under the time limit
  • Master: For advanced players. Tetrominoes drop at full speed.
  • Konoha (New): Big Block Tetrominoes only. Do All Clears to unlock bonus illustration of characters.
  • Shiranui (New): VS CPU mode. Higher difficulty will see tougher CPU. Hidden difficulty hinted

For the uninitiated, Tetris The Grand Master is an arcade take on Tetris developed by Arika (of Fighting EX Layer fame). Between 1998 to 2005, three different games, all exclusively made for the arcades, were made.

Tetris TGM’s claim to fame is its ridiculous Master mode, where players are given no breaks and must continue clearing lines even while the credits rolled, and the Tetrominoes become invisible. You might have seen this old viral clip of the previous game Tetris TGM3, posted by Arika themselves.

Coincidentally, all the high-level gameplay footage of the new Tetris TGM4 gameplay was done by a member of the development team, referred as Producer Mihara. Mihara’s name is in the credits of that viral clip of the previous Tetris TGM3.

Tetris TGM4 doesn’t seem to support online play, but there will be local play available for 1V1 duels.

Tetris TGM4 Absolute Eye will launch on PC (Steam) on April 4.
