The second of multiple Night City Wire broadcasts happened last night, which shares new details for Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt RED’s open-world RPG is also a first-person game set in a cyberpunk world in 2077. So there’s a new perspective this time. And unlike The Witcher, there’s guns. A lot of them.
The new trailer breaks down the three types of guns, as well as other melee weapons and cyberware.
Take a look:
The Night City Wire broadcast goes deeper on details about the weaponry in Cyberpunk 2077. Guns have three types. Power weapons is the closest to regular ballistic weapons we see in modern-day using bullets, though the bullets can ricochet. Laser weapons can blast through cover while Smart weapons have homing characteristics.
You can equip melee weapons too, one of them being a thermal katana. Cyberware are augments you can put in your body. We’ve seen the mantis before, though unlike the gameplay reveal years ago it has been confirmed that wall climbing with it has been cut. The guerilla arms, mentioned before in past interviews on Cyberpunk, is now shown in-game for the first time.
Weapons have physical upgrades, in the form of attachments that you can see physical changes as well as software upgrades, which changes stats and add different properties to weapons. Weapons have tiers, from common to Legendaries, with Legendary weapons having properties unique to them. Weapons can be bought at vendors, picked up on enemies or found in loot caches.
There is an RPG element to the FPS bits, where over time, your character V will get better at using weapons. You will see better reload speeds and better aim as they get good at it.
The second episode of the Night City Wire also shared a behind-the-scences look at how the punk rock bad Refused is making their performance for the in-game band Samurai, as well as a teaser on how your lifepath choice will affect the start of the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches on November 19 for the PS4, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG), Xbox One. It’s also coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X as free next-gen upgrades, and Stadia.
