Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Adds Joker From Persona 5 As Sales Pass 1 Million Copies

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds continue to move in pace with its current plan of a year of post-launch content with a new free update dropping today.

The free update adds Joker from Persona 5 as a playable racer, featuring his signature Machine Arsène Wing (the look and name inspired by the protagonist of the RPG’s starting Persona). Like all the Machines, parts of Arsène Wing can be mixed and match for stats or aesthetic reasons to create your own custom car. It’s also possible to recreate the Joker (the other one from Batman) colour scheme on this Joker car.

In addition, three new songs from Persona 5 Royal have been added to the Jukebox. Though only two of which can be added as your preferred music choice when racing:

  • “Take Over”
  • “Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There”
  • “Victory” (Jukebox only)

Similar to previous crossover content addition, there is a limited-time event (Festival) popping off in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

Starting tomorrow October 24 8AM Malaysia time (+8 GMT), the Joker Festival will bring in the now-expected team race format where a special team challenge can be completed throughout the race to score a result-changing worth of points. Rewards include the usual suspect of decal stickers, title, horn and one gadget (that will eventually be earnable elsewhere in a future update).

Sega has also added a warning that Festival rewards are tied to save data, not an account (the game doesn’t force you to login into one). So in the event of a save data wipe, the rewards earned from this limited-time events are also gone as well.

This will be the third limited-time Festival following the Hatsune Miku and Minecraft.

On top of all this, Sega also announced Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has sold over 1 million copies worldwide, including physical and digital copies across all platforms.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version coming soon. Check out our review of the game here.
