Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is out now, and if you have the game now, get ready for the first limited-time event for Sonic Team’s arcade kart racing game as well as a new game update.
The first event, The Hatsune Miku Festival, is centered around everyone’s favourite vocaloid and race queen, Hatsune Miku.
As part of a free game update, Hatsune Miku, one of the three free post-launch racers, is now unlocked as a free playable racer in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and comes with her own personal machine, Diva Macchina. Molto bene.
The game update also adds five new music tracks from Project ONSOKU, a music collab between Hatsune Miku and Sonic The Hedgehog.
The Hatsune Miku Festival limited-time event starts on October 3, 8 AM Malaysia Time (+8 GMT) to October 6, 7.59 AM. At the time of writing, the event’s live so you better go go go if you don’t want to miss out.

The online multiplayer event will see you pick between three teams and compete to score points. Each race will have a challenge where teams must compete for other than just being the first to the chequered flag.
Participating in the Hatsune Miku Festival will earn you points to unlock event-specific title, horn, gadget and stickers to create your own Hatsune Miku racing machine that isn’t a Mercedes-AMG GT3 car.
The event-specific gadget will be available to all players in future updates, so no FOMO on that. And there will be alternate ways of acquiring missed Festival rewards in the future, though publisher Sega only hints of such feature but currently not committing into doing it, so there still might be some FOMO.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version coming soon. A demo is currently available.
