Some Games Are Taken Off The Epic Games Store Temporarily During Epic Mega Sale

Mark this under the many blunders of the Epic Games Store. The storefront launched its first sales, the Epic Mega Sale, yesterday with discounts galore. Though apparently a few games that were on discount was taken off the store.

Chief among them is Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. The game was $13.99 USD (from $23.99) in Malaysia, with regional pricing accounted. The game is now not available for purchase in the store.

Speaking to Kotaku, a representative from Epic said that Bloodlines 2 publisher Paradox Interactive decided not to participate in the sale at the last minute. Epic’s director of publishing strategy Sergey Galyonkin mentioned the same thing, but also noted that any purchases of the game with the discount price will be honoured.

A statement by Paradox indicates that Bloodlines too will be made available for purchase on the store again. Here it is in full:

“We are in discussion with Epic regarding the temporary removal of Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 from the Epic Game Store.

“The game will return to the store soon! Any purchases made while the game was discounted during the Epic Mega Sale will be honored and no Masquerade violations will be assessed.”

The other game also gone from the Epic Games Store is Oxygen Not Included. The colony building and survival game is going to be out in its full release later this month. No statement was issued by Klei at the moment.

It is peculiar that most of the games on the Epic Mega Sale are for pre-orders. And understandably, some publishers just choose not to participate.

The Epic Games Store is still barebones- with no shopping cart feature to buy these discounted games in one transaction and missing way too many features from other PC games storefronts. And the choice of snapping up exclusives is unanimously unpopular among PC gamers.
