Sega and The Creative Assembly have provided a rundown on all the new features coming to Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition, an unexpected new addition to one of the more loved entries in the ongoing RTS series that initially only covered historical settings, but now has expanded into the Warhammer universe, and soon, Warhammer 40,000.
Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition is a separate version of Total War: Shogun 2. It’s not a free update, you have to purchase it again if you already have the original base game.
However, this does mean that the current version of Shogun 2, first released in 2011, remains intact and accessible as it is, without the new version bumping up spec requirements or any of the downfalls of replacing an old PC game with a new remaster/remake version of it. You can run classic Shogun 2 on your old PC setup as it was.
But if you want to play Shogun 2 again but with the quality-of-life features that makes it feel more modern without tinkering with mods, Complete Edition has you covered.
The game overview trailer has the lowdown on what’s new, but here’s the cliff notes on what’s new to Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition.
- All the content (base game, Rise Of The Samurai, Fall Of The Samurai expansions)
- Improvements to fit the modern PC: 64-bit upgrade, improved stability, borderless fullscreen and scalable UI support for 1440p, 4K and ultrawide displays
