Road To Empress, the “live-action interactive drama” by New One Studio, is getting a release on Switch.
The Switch version of Road To Empress, which is a bundle that includes the upcoming sequel Road To Empress II, will be co-published by Sega in Japan and select Asian regions.
In addition, Sega will co-publish the PC release of Road To Empress II in Japan with New One Studio.
Road To Empress can also considered an FMV visual novel. Set during the Tang Dynasty, players will have to navigate and survive the court intrigue and political maneuvering this game has to offer.
The presentation is what really set Road To Empress from simply just an FMV game where you make some decisions in-between scenes. It has a proper cast of stars with a the setting filled with period-appropriate prop and costumes to really sell it as a C-drama. It shouldn’t surprise anyone Road To Empress sold a million copies in its first two weeks of its PC release in 2025, garnering an international audience.
Road To Empress I and II will be coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. Road To Empress is out now on PC (Steam). Road To Empress II is coming to PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch later this year.
