Pragmata Is A Real Game That Will Release In 2026, Capcom Insists

Capcom insists that Pragmata, the PlayStation-exclusive video game revealed during the lead-up to the launch of the PS5, is indeed a real game and won’t meet the same fate as Deep Down, as a new gameplay trailer was revealed.

The trailer, revealed during the June 2025 State Of Play broadcast, puts a name on the duo of this sci-fi action-adventure: spacefarer Hugh and android Diana.

Set on the moon in a near-future setting, Pragmata is a case of an AI gone rogue—even namedroping the contemporary horror in the making that is generative-AI. Hugh and Diana must find a way to survive this ordeal.

The third-person gameplay has echoes of the recent wave of Resident Evil remakes with its over-the-shoulder camera angle. And it has the setup of a dynamic duo protagonist, with the sidekick hanging behind the big guy’s back. But unlike the Resident Evil remakes, Hugh can jump and hover with boosters from his suit of armour.

Fascinatingly, Pragmata has players control both characters at the same time. Hugh does the shooting and fighting those AI robots, while Diana can Hack, an integral part of the game. Though it’s like a more-involved Ratchet & Clank/Banjoo-Kazooie/Yooka-Laylee, where you have more direct control of the smaller partner that resides on the back, rather than a full-on Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons situation, judging by the gameplay seen in the short trailer.

When Pragmata was announced, it was slated to launch in 2022, and then it got delayed, and delayed again. And it’s been two years since.

This isn’t the first time a Capcom game announced during the lead-up of a new PlayStation console ended up being vapourware, hence the cheeky insistence that Pragmata is real, and is indeed on track for a release.

Pragmata will release for real, hopefully, not only on PS5, but also on PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S in 2026.
