PlayStation To Publish Unannounced 4-Player Co-Op Shooter By Bad Robot Games

If you’d think PlayStation has had enough of making and publishing multiplayer games, but you’d be wrong.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced today that they will be publishing an unannounced 4-player co-op shooter developed by Bad Robot Games.

Bad Robot Games is a division of Bad Robot, the production company founded by JJ Abrams.

More importantly, this unannounced 4-player co-op shooter game is directed by Mike Booth, the lead designer behind Left 4 Dead.

This will be Booth’s first game since Left 4 Dead should it ship. Booth was with Turtle Rock Studios when developing the seminal co-op shooter and then left to join Blizzard and later Facebook, before joining Bad Robot Games in 2020.

Anna Sweet, CEO of Bad Robot Games says:

“With the support of PlayStation, we hope to deliver a bold, innovative experience that is truly special for players. I could not be more excited that Mike Booth is at the creative helm, crafting a cooperative adventure that will lead to unforgettable moments with friends.”

PlayStation had experience both ends of success and failure with multiplayer games in the span of a year. Helldivers 2 was a massive success, becoming the publisher’s fastest-selling game. Meanwhile, Concord couldn’t even last two weeks before it was pulled and servers were shut down.

We still have no idea what this Bad Robot Game game is, but we have seen an attempt to bring back Left 4 Dead, zombies and all, with Back 4 Blood, developed by Turtle Rock Studios, sans Booth.
