Capcom has made the decision to reverse-delay the release of Onimusha: Way Of The Sword. Initially announced to be released on September 24, the game is now set to launch 20 days earlier, to September 4, instead.
Due to the change in release date, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 version via the Nintendo eShop are cancelled, so you’ll have to place the pre-order again.
On top of this change in release schedule, Capcom also announced that Onimusha: Way Of The Sword will be released on Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. Capcom doesn’t regularly release games on Epic, so that’s interesting to see.
The demo for Onimusha: Way Of The Sword is getting an update, but not for content reasons. It’s just so that the demo makes mention of the revised release date.
The decision to cede in the game of video game release chicken is an understandable one. Accordinging to releases.com, there’s at least two other big-name AAA titles that all somehow decided to release on September 24: Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall. Onimusha is now moved to a less crowded week (with so-far only one big AAA game release scheduled: The Blood Of Dawnwalker).
Also: two nickels, for those keeping track of Capcom reverse-delaying the release of their video games this years by having one nickel each per instance. The previous was for the brilliant and original hack-n’-shooter Pragmata.
Onimusha: Way Of The Sword will now be released on September 4 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Check out what we think of the demo here.
