Omen By HP 15 Laptop Gets A Refresh, Available For Pre-Orders In Malaysia

Slimmer, cooler, slightly more powerful

The Omen By HP brand launched back in 2016, reviving the Omen brand and the old VoodooPC logo to become HP’s new flagship gaming line. The main attraction here is the gaming laptops, simply called the Omen By HP laptops.

Fast forward to 2018 and HP has announced its new refresh to the Omen By HP 15 and 17 laptops, coming to Malaysia soon. It looks rather similar to the already-striking 2017 model, but there are various small improvements being added here.

The Omen By HP 15 gets a slimmer form factor and slimmer bezel. The CPU options are now based on the 8th-gen Intel Core i7. The GPU options have not changed, still sticking to the Max-Q variants of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, 1050Ti and 1060. Cooling has been improved with bigger fans.

The keyboard is now RGB rather than just having a gamer red lighting. There will be an improved Omen Command Centre app which allows keyboard RGB customisation and also provide simple streaming solution.

Also, Omen By HP 15 provides easy access to expansion slots. Prying it open to upgrade RAM and SSD are just a few Philips screws away.

The Omen By HP 17 laptop will arrive in Malaysia later in September.

The Omen by HP 15 laptop looks promising, albeit a small refresh compared to last year’s offering. But if you are in the market for a new gaming laptop, consider them. HP is the rare OEM here that does not skimp on memory and storage. We usually complaint about gaming laptops here offering less than ideal storage options in our many reviews, so it’s good to see HP getting that aspect right.
