Swedish developers 10 Chambers have announced something new. Not a game, but a “docu-reality” TV series, Do The Game.
Do The Game is a behind-the-scenes look at how 10 Chambers, a company founded by ex-Payday devs, as these ten friends set out to create Den Of Wolves, their upcoming multiplayer heist shooter (with a near-future twist).
The teaser gives a glimpse of the tone Do The Game will have, featuring shots in the office place, a dev build of Den Of Wolves with what looks to be the first public reveal of a work-in-progress HUD, and various public appearances the team has done so far to promote the game.
The fascinating scenes are the ones where we get to be a metaphorical fly in the wall of a meeting, see and hear how these people discuss about their current game in development internally.
10 Chambers have let the camera roll as these individuals do their daily work. Expect to see moments that range “from creative breakthroughs to crushing setbacks, mental health struggles, and the relentless demand to deliver”. So that’s where the “raw and unfiltered” feel comes in.
This is basically Drive To Survive for game development.
What’s more curious about Do The Game is that the game that this series is documenting, Den Of Wolves, is still in development. With no release date yet. We have no idea if the game will be a success or an unfortunate flop. But whatever is the end result of the product, being able to see how the sausage is being made should be a fascinating watch.
And should be a gold mine of material to work with for future retrospective content.
“With our previous success of GTFO and now working on a major title like Den of Wolves, it might seem glamorous,” said Oscar J-T Holm, Co-Founder at 10 Chambers. “However, growing a company while building a game can be incredibly stressful and create tension even between longtime friends. Through this Docu-Reality series, we aim to provide a brutally honest look behind the scenes of all this.”
“I hate making this documentary”, said Ulf Andersson, founder of 10 Chambers.
Just like the game that is the subject of this documentary, Do The Game has no release date yet.
