More Gameplay Tidbits Of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Revealed – Co-Op, Guns, And More

2K and Gearbox Software have released a bunch of new info for its Borderlands spin-off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

The upcoming looter-shooter with more high-fantasy tabletop RPG flavouring is still using the foundations of a Borderlands game, but with some tweaks to adjust for its new setting.

Some things are thankfully staying the same.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Co-Op Features

Wonderlands can be played up to four players in online co-op.

The game will support two-player split-screen co-op on PS4 and Xbox One, and a full party of four-player split-screen co-op on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Just like in Borderlands 3, you toggle between Cooperation mode (loot is instanced to each player scaled to their level) or Coopetition mode (everyone sees and has the same loot drops- you snooze you lose). Cooperation is the way to go, but if you’re playing with mates and are okay with a little bit of trolling and banter, the old way of how Borderlands multiplayer is still available. The two modes can be toggled at any time.

The game will also scale its enemies (and loot drop) according to your party size. More players mean harder enemies but also means better loot.

However, no word is mentioned regarding cross-play, which Borderlands 3 had a limited version of it.

Guns in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will still be split into six different types based on what ammo they use (pistol, SMG, assault rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle, heavy weapons). Though the gun manufacturers have changed to fit the setting, outside of one, they all have equivalents to the gun manufacturers in Borderlands 3.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Gun Manufacturers, Quirks And Its Borderlands 3 Equivalent

  • Dahlia – alternate firing modes like Full Auto or Burst Fire (Dahl equivalent)
  • Blackpowder – Critical hits will cause bullets to ricochet, firing rate based on how fast you pull the trigger (Jakobs equivalent)
  • Feriore – Guns can polymorph into bombs, winged blasters and more instead of a traditional reload (Tediore equivalent)
  • Stoker – Absurdly high firing rate (Vladof equivalent)
  • Torgue – Extra explosions, including sticky mines (Torgue equivalent)
  • Skuldugger – No reloads, ammo regenerates, has a heat meter (COV equivalent)
  • Hyperius – Magical shield appears when aiming down sights (Hyperion equivalent)

Instead of shields, you equip Wards in Wonderlands. Though they effectively function the same. All damage goes to the ward first before it breaks, and wards can recharge their meter back.

Wards in Wonderlands also have different manufacturers, but all of them still fit into the familiar shield brands from Borderlands 3.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Ward Manufacturers, Quirks And Its Borderlands 3 Equivalent

  • Ashen – Quick recharges when broken, but lower max capacity (Anshin equivalent)
  • Pangoblin – Higher max capacity, but slower recharge rate (Pangolin equivalent)
  • Hyperius – Bonus abilities like make the first shot stronger or shock attacks the first enemy that strikes you when at max capacity (Hyperion equivalent)

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Rings And Amulets

Instead of Class mods and relics, Wonderlands lets you equip an amulet and two rings. Rings looks to be the replacement for relics, as it provides a flat bonus. Amulets can increase Class Power and damage, instantly reload your gun on a melee hit and other wilder special effects, which makes it more of a class mod replacement. Grenade mods may have been axed for an additional ring slot.

All rings and amulets are from the new Vatu manufacturer.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Elemental Damage Types

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is also making some tweaks to the damage elementals. Fire, Shock, Corrosion and Cryo from Borderlands 3 returns as Fire, Lightning, Poison and Frost.

Fire deals damage to red health bars, Lightning to wards/shields (blue bars), poison to armour (yellow bars) and Frost not only can freeze enemies (that takes 3 times more melee damage so you can shatter them easily), but also deals damage to a new white bar, Bone.

There’s also one new damage element in Wonderlands, Dark Magic. This is essentially life steal- where you siphon health out of enemies.

All damage elemental types also deal some form of damage-over-time.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is still set to launch on March 25, 2022 on the PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version will be released outside of Epic within the same year, later in 2022.
