Monster Hunter Rise Releasing On PlayStation, Xbox, Game Pass January 2023

Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Rise, the latest entry of the Monster Hunter series, will finally head to PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

The game first launched in 2021 as a Nintendo Switch release, and followed that with a PC release earlier this year.

Monster Hunter Rise on PlayStation and Xbox will be at parity with the current base game version on other platforms (Ver.10). Monsters like “Crimson
Glow Valstrax”, “Chameleos”, “Teostra” and “Kushala Daora”, plus other balance changes post-launch will be available with this release.

There are no cross-play and cross-save options across different families of platforms.

However, on Xbox the game supports Smart Delivery and Xbox Play Anywhere, so you can play the game with players on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, as well as on Windows PC. Save files, additional content and achievement are shared across the Xbox platforms.

Also, the game will be added to Xbox Game Pass and likely PC Game Pass as well (there’s no official mention of it in the press release, but the game will have a Microsoft Store version for Windows which is how games appear on PC Game Pass).

UPDATE: It’s now confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise is coming to PC Game Pass as well, via Xbox SEA. Original story follows.

On PlayStation, purchasing Monster Hunter Rise by default includes the PS4 and PS5 versions (free next-gen upgrade). Players on PS4 and PS5 can play together, and save files can be transferred from PS4 to PS5.

The new release of Monster Hunter Rise lets you play the game at 4K 60fps or 1080p 120fps and supports 3D audio (Xbox One will get 3D audio in a later update in spring). The PS5 version also has Adaptive Triggers support.

The expansion to Monster Hunter Rise, Sunbreak, will be released sometime in Spring 2023.

Monster Hunter Rise will be out on PS4, PS5, PC (Microsoft Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on January 20, 2023. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass. The game is currently available on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
