Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii, the next spin-off game with action combat in the Like A Dragon series, is getting a reverse delay. The game previously was set to sail on February 28, 2025, but has now moved one week earlier to February 21, 2025.
In a video announcement, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio director and executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama says the new release date is “partly because development is progressing more smoothly than expected but also want to deliver the game to game users around the world as soon as possible.”
But the real reason is in the next sentence which Yokoyama says: “We wanted you to play the game that comes after it with peace of mind”.
February 2025 is shaping to be a big month for big game releases, which includes the release of Monster Hunter Wilds on.. February 28.
It’s likely the change of Pirate Yakuza’s release date is to avoid competing directly with the next mainline entry to Monster Hunter.
The new trailer for Pirate Yakuza hamers home the fact that in this game, Majima is amnesiac. After waking up in the coast of an island in Hawaii, he ended up becoming a pirate captain of his own abroad the pirate ship Goromaru.
Fascinatingly, there is naval combat elements, proper enough that there will be naval combat arena battles within Madlantis. The ship can be cosmetically customised as well.
The story of Pirate Yakuza takes place after the events of Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. And the trailer confirms another familiar face will make an appearance in Pirate Yakuza: Majima’s kyoudai, Taiga Saejima. In Like A Dragon meme terms, it’s the guy who receives a whole watermelon from pre-eyepatch Majima.
Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii will now release on February 21, 2025 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
