IO Interactive’s James Bond Game Could Possibly Be A Trilogy

Now that IO Interactive has wrapped up their last game for the rebooted Hitman trilogy, they’ve already busy with their next game: an all-new James Bond game, featuring a new, original James Bond.

In a recent interview with Danish website DR, IO’s CEO Hakan Abrak is very enthusiastic that they can make a game out of the IP. Especially one that need not to be tied with the movies. “We have been allowed to make our own digital Bond, which will not lean on a Bond actor,” he said to DR.

“We are also making a completely original story, and you could easily imagine that a trilogy could come out of it.”

The original announcement of what is currently dubbed Project 007, the now-indie developers have revealed that it will be based on an original James Bond, one before he acquires the 00 agent status.

The rebooted Hitman trilogy, or the World Of Assassination trilogy as it’s officially called, brings a different tone to the sandbox assassination game. It’s more polished, refined and can easily pass off as a spy game with its focus to stealth, intrigue and purposeful killing. So it’s easy to see the Hitman template being used as a foundation for a James Bond game.

The full interview piece by DR (in Danish) also reveals how the meeting with Barbara Broccoli and the rest of EON Productions (owners of the James Bond IP), and plans to continue expanding the team from 200 to 400 staffs. The new Malmö, Sweden office will be involved in the production of this new James Bond game.
