Injustice 2 is the next fighting game from NetherRealm Studios, the folks behind the Mortal Kombat series. The Injustice series takes all the familiar DC superheroes and supervillains in a dark timeline where Superman established an authoritarian regime to stop all crimes from happening, by any means necessary. Injustice 2 picks up from the ending of the last game, but a new evil lurks that will bring new alliances together.
It’s basic comic superhero plot, but NetherRealm has the reputation in being the best one when it comes to story mode in fighting games. So expect a good few hours of entertainment to be had there.
The biggest change is of course, the new loot system. Regardless of the outcome of the battle, you will slowly gain experience and loot to customise each character to your own style. Some has cosmetic properties only and some certainly boost your abilities and even change movesets, but all can be disabled should you want the pure competitive fisticuffs like in most fighting games.
Aside from that, the new Multiverse mode should give you enough single-player content to grind those loot if you’re not keen on jumping into multiplayer.
