Grid (2019) Career Mode Should Be Similar To The Original

Codemasters have shared a bit more information on the Career Mode for the upcoming new Grid game. The 2019 entry should share a lot of similarities to the original Race Driver: Grid, which is a good thing.

For one, you will be creating your own racing team with customisable name and team colours. And just like the first game, Grid (2019) will let you pick your own teammate from the driver pool, the rest to be racing in rival teams and acts as your potential nemesis. Teammates can be hired and fired at your own discretion.

The top team to beat will still be Ravenwest Motorsport. The grey colours and red emblem of the team were the cover star for the original Grid and Grid Autosport and will continue to be the top dog in Grid (2019).

There are six disciplines of racing: Touring, Stock, Tuner, GT, FA Racing, and Invitational. There will be 13 events for the first five disciplines, with Invitational events having 26. Each discipline ends with a Showdown event- a 2v2 race where you and your teammate battle another pair. Not all disciplines are to be completed to reach to the finale- the GRID World Series.

The difficulty of the races is, of course, customisable, where you can make it as hard or as easy as you wish. Career mode events will be added as part of post-launch support, with the promise that the event numbers will be doubled with the post-launch additions. A big promise.

If you’re a fan of the old Race Driver Grid then surely Grid (2019) is ticking the right boxes. Though we still haven’t heard if there are seasons which ends with a race in Le Mans 24 Hours, but that’s maybe asking too much these days.

Grid (2019) will be bumping its way to release on October 11th for the PS4, PC (Steam) and Xbox One, as well as a launch title for Stadia later this year.
