Fans of last year’s big-hit adventure God of War Ragnarök are in for a treat. Santa Monica Studio just dropped a new update to the game which adds New Game+ and more.
A lot of the new content is for those that have beaten the game, so mind some gameplay spoilers being mentioned here.
New Game+ lets you replay the game again while keeping all the equipment, weapons and skills. You won’t get to use all of them from the get-go (Sonic and Hex Arrows, Draupnir Spear will only unlock as part of story progression like before) but all upgrades for those will be kept.
In addition, there’s new equipment. You begin New Game+ with the Armor Of The Black Bear- Kratos’ default armour but with the cloak seen in the game’s opening (as well as many pre-release screenshots and artwork).
For an extra challenge, there’s the Spartan Armor which barely is an amour as you can’t upgrade it (stuck at Level 1), and has no perks and stats attached. This is for the masochists who wants a challenge.
The Ares and Zeus Armors, seen in God Of War (2018), also return.
All armours can be transmogged, so you can equip them as cosmetics but retain stats of other armours. 13 existing armours also get new colour combos and styles.
In New Game+, the level cap is increased. All previous Level 9 equipment you have can be converted into “Plus” versions, which have new levels of progression.
There are a few more minor additions, you check out the full details on the PlayStation Blog here. But the last one to end is the expanded Niflheim arena. You can now switch between playing Kratos or Atreus, and you can also switch companions with all other available companions (Atreus, Freya, Brok, Sindri, Angrboda, Ingrid, Thor, and Thrúd). Want to do the archers-only combo of Atreus and Freya? Go ahead.
God Of War Ragnarök is out now on PS4 and PS5. You can find our review of the game here.
