Square Enix has revealed that Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age has sold more than 6 million units since its release.
The number also includes sales from Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition that’s out on Switch, but also coming to PS4, PC and Xbox One. So this number will surely increase a bit more.
The old-school JRPG’s latest release still retains what you expect from a JRPG. And it looks like there are still fans for this style of game. While Square Enix’s other big RPG franchise, Final Fantasy, continues to reinvent itself, Dragon Quest is still here sticking to its roots.
Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition is based on the Nintendo Switch release, which includes more content than the original. This includes new character side stories, a 2D mode, Japanese and English audio, 16-bit World Of Tickington and more.
Also of note: it’s coming to Epic Games Store as well as Steam for PC.
Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition will be out on December 4 for the PS4 (including PS Store Asia), PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and Xbox One as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. Which means buying on Xbox includes a Windows 10 PC version as well. And also coming to Xbox Game Pass.
Unfortunately, there won’t be an upgrade path for owners of the original. The Definitive Edition is considered as an all-new title.
