Days Gone Getting New Content As A Remaster Upgrade On PS5, DLC On PC

PlayStation does remember about Days Gone, after all. The 2019 open world game filled with not-zombies is getting another lease of life as a remaster on PS5 and as a new DLC on PC.

Revealed at the February 2025 State Of Play, Days Gone Remastered is coming to PS5. This version of the game will have improved graphics in the form of better foliage draw distance and better shadow and lighting quality, as well as making use of PS5 features like 3D audio and making use of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. New accessibility options are added as well.

As for new content, the following has been added:

  • Horde Assault – survival arcade mode: survive against bigger hordes of Freakers unseen in the main game. Higher scores for surviving longer. Multiple maps based around the open world featured in the story. Unlockable within the game mode includes new playable characters, patch sometics, and Injectors
  • Permadeath mode- play the story where if you die, you have to start all over again either from the beginning or at the start of the second act. Special mode-clear graphic will record time to complete and other stats to share
  • Speedrun more- completing the mode in this game will have special mode-clear graphic to show your clear time
  • Enhanced Photo Mode- new features include time-of-day setting, three-point lighting and new logos

For PlayStation console players, Days Gone Remastered can be purchased in full. For those who owned the PS4 original, they can purchase the PS5 remaster as a paid $10 USD upgrade (more or less RM40) to access Days Gone Remastered.

This is a familiar practice PlayStation has done with other PS5 remasters of PS4 games including Death Stranding and Ghost Of Tsushima. No free next-gen upgrades.

For those who purchased Days Gone on PC, all the new content mentioned here (DualSense controller features, accessibility options and the new modes) are available as the Broken Road DLC, also priced similarly to the paid upgrade. The difference in name shows PlayStation’s understanding on how the PC market works (i.e. the idea of paying for a remaster is silly on PC where you don’t put a paywall for higher-end graphical settings).

Bend Studio has teamed up with Climax Studios to work on this new release for Days Gone.

Days Gone Remastered on PS5 and Days Gone Broken Road DLC for PC will be available on April 25. Check out our review of the original PS4 release here.
