Switch your suit to “MAXIMUM ARMOUR”. Crysis is getting a remaster for the current consoles and PC. And that includes the Nintendo Switch.
The original 2007 game was, and is, a gold standard for PC benchmarking, hence the usual “Can it run Crysis?” joke whenever a new hardware’s power is in question. The remaster will still be powered by Crytek’s CryEngine.
Crysis Remastered will include many modern graphical features, including software-based ray-tracing, something Crytek has demoed before. The rest of the bullet-point graphical features are as follows:
- High-quality textures and improved art assets
- HD texture pack
- Temporal anti-aliasing
- SSDO
- SVOGI
- State-of-the-art depth fields
- New light setting
- Motion blur
- parallax occlusion mapping,
- particle effects
- volumetric fog
- shafts of light,
- software-based ray tracing
- screen space reflection
“It’s an exciting opportunity to be able to bring Crysis back to PCs and current consoles – even Nintendo Switch! – so that a whole new generation of players can experience the thrill of a battle in the Nanosuit,” said Crytek CEO Avni Yerli.
Saber Interactive is involved with Crysis Remastered. The World War Z developer is also known for their work on porting The Witcher III to Switch.
The original Crysis has you play as one of a few soldiers equipped with the Nanosuit, which has different modes that boosts your strength, speed and armour, plus a cloaking feature for stealth. It starts as a rescue mission at North Korean island, until the aliens come into the picture.
Crysis Remastered is expected to be released for the PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch sometime this summer.
