Indie devs Stellar Jockeys have reemerged with not only a new look at the gameplay for Brigador Killers, but also dropped a playable demo as well.
Announced back in 2019, Brigador Killers is the follow-up to the 2016 game Brigador. Brigador is a mech shooter that had tank controls, an isometric camera angle, and an oppressive, dark cyber future through the lense of the 1980s vibe to it that made it stand out.
Brigador Killers, the self-described “insurgency simulator,” brings in a bigger scale to its combat sandbox, with inspirations from Syndicate and Crusader: No Remorse, two isometric strategy games which oppressive tones carry over the Brigador series. Hyper violence sure looks cool with words written in an italic serif font and darkwave/cyberpunk music beats.
The demo includes two campaigns. Obstacle 1 is a six-mission introduction that’s more or less a tutorial, with narrative beats that opens and closes the 15-minute playtime. The Garage is a “semi-sandbox campaign” with no narrative. It’s there for you to try out the new on-foot and vehicles, as well as its dynamic mission elements that should be highly replayable.
The Brigador Killers demo will evolve over time, with an update expected to arrive for Steam Next Fest this June.
Brigador Killers has no release date yet but it’s coming to PC (Steam). A demo is now available.
