Borderlands 4 Revealed, Now With A Seamless World, New Traversal Moves

Borderlands 4 was teased a while back, with nothing much to go on. But now we get to see a proper look at Gearbox’s next entry to the looter-shooter.

As revealed at The Game Awards 2024, this new trailer gives us a look at the new four Vault Hunters you play as, some new traversal moves (like that grappling hook to zoom and jump on specific ledges and platforms) and glimpses of sweet, sweet loot.

Borderlands 4 will see the adventure going beyond Pandora, as it’s set on a new planet: Kairos.

And in this game, it’s finally dropping the quaint zone-based levels separated by loading screens it has had for about a decade as Borderlands 4 will now have a seamless world across its zones. On that note, vehicles can now spawn almost anywhere, a Catch-A-Ride Anywhere system, if you will.

While we only see glimpses of the new Vault Hunters (fans seem to have mixed reception about how they all look, and honestly, they don’t quite stand out as much), but publisher 2K is touting that these Vault Hunters have “the deepest and most diverse Vault Hunter skill trees of any Borderlands title yet”. One of them looks to be another Siren, so Borderlands 4 seems to continue the tradition of all numbered entries having one of them as a playable Vault Hunter.

Borderlands 4 is targeting a release in 2025. Between this, Civilization VII and Mafia: The Old World, 2K has a stacked year ahead of them, assuming all of them turns out well.
